Anyway.... Ocean City is about 2 1/2 hours away. It is a beach on the Atlantic Ocean that is extremely popular in the summer time. Caitlynn and Dalton weren't too excited when they heard the news of riding in the car for the day

We headed out about 11:00 on a very cold 40 degree day. We drove around Ocean City a few minutes and finally found some place open for lunch. The resturant we found was right on the coast where a lot of ducks were. Austin took this pictures.

After lunch we walked along the coast on the boardwalk.

It was pretty cold and our winter coats, gloves and hats are still in Idaho so we had to resort to blankets to keep warm. This picture was taken between 3 and 5 in the afternoon and you can tell it is already getting dark.

Along the boardwalk was a 9-11 Firefighters memorial for the fallen firefighters during the rescue. The memorial also has a piece of steel from the World trade center.

The kids wanted to say they have literally touched both the West and East coast. Their favorite thing they like to do is get as close to the water as possible without getting wet. The waves were coming in pretty good because of the winds so they were having a hard time trying to "touch" the coast without getting wet. Austin didn't make it and ended up getting one leg wet.

We actually did pretty good on this day trip. We got home around 10:00. We only used 11 hours of the 24. It must be a record. We got home just in time for Ashlie to get to bed since she had to get up at 4 am to go to her last band competition in Allentown, PA (about 3 hours away).
P.S. Ashlie just called and they placed 12th out of 21. They improved their score by about 6 points which is very good. But they still didn't beat the one team they really wanted to. Oh well. I hope they had a great day and a great season. I know Ashlie isn't looking forward to it being over with because of the friendships, but I did say now that Marching band is over with she can look for a job. (Oh my I am getting old. As fast as Ashlie is growing up she reminds me of my age and then as demanding as Caitlynn and Dalton are they are also reminding me of my age. Ugh!!!)
