Tonight Ashlie was inducted into the National Honor Society. It ended up being quite an ordeal to get into. Last Spring in Idaho the advisor for National Honor Society requested her to apply. She really was already accepted she just needed to apply. Well unfortunately enrollment was after our move. And since the membership was for 2007-08 school year she really needed to be in the Maryland chapter. To apply here she had to have 5 teacher recommendations, a letter of recommendation, proof of community service and proof of leadership. That's all fine and dandy, but all the recommendations and signatures she needed were in Idaho. One of the signatures needed to come from the Meridian Mayor for her leadership in the Mayor's Youth Council. With
alot of
persistence and talking to the National Honor Society to accept e-mails from the people instead of signatures she was able to get everything in just in time.
During the ceremony each inductee signed their name and then lit their candle from the Candle of Knowledge. After everyone lit their candle they said their pledge and received their certificate.
I am so proud of her. She really has made school work her #1 priority and it shows. She had a little slip up on her priorities this last quarter but I am confident she will get everything back in line. She is a smart wonderful young lady. Now the next step is SAT's and looking at colleges. YIKES!!!!
