Washington DC

Never fear. I almost have you caught up on our lives over the last couple of weeks. Luckily not much has been going on this week. Today was Austin's last baseball game. He did great!!! They actually won the game. What a way to end the season. It was also Corrie's last volleyball game. She did great too but they ended up loosing. Corrie really had a lot of fun and it was sad to see the season over with. Yesterday Ashlie had a marching band competition in Annapolis at the Navy's stadium ( For those football fans). They did well. They placed 2nd. Next week is their last competition in Allentown, PA.

Ok now to continue to catch up on the week my parents were here.

Wednesday of last week when my parents were here we went to the monuments in Washington, DC. It had been raining all day. The forecast said it would clear up that evening. I really wanted to show my parents the monuments at night. So even though it was still raining a little we headed out. We picked Jeff up at a metro station, had dinner at a very nice resturant and then headed into DC. It was still raining. We bundled up the babies, got our umbrellas out and headed out. By the way, I didn't take these pictures. I got most off the internet. We were too busy trying to deal with rain and babies to take pictures. But I wanted you to get some kind of glimpse of the monuments at night. It really is goreous.

Mom really wanted to see the Vietnam Wall so we went there first. I was disappointed there weren't more lights on the wall for her to see. The rain affected our ability to really see the wall too. You could still experience the wall and the number of casualities, though.

It started to rain pretty hard so we then went to the lincoln memorial where we could at least be out of the rain. I have been to the Lincoln memorial a few times but this time I really looked at the memorial and tried to take it all in.

It looked like the rain slowed down a little bit so we went to the Korean War memorial. This is the memorial I really wanted mom and Dad to see at night. It is a very erie place even in the daytime. The only problem with this memorial is it is outside and you get all kinds of noise and people walking by. Some day I want to just sit in the quietness with no distractions and really experience this monument. The faces on these figures are just amazing. There are 19 statues. The statues have faces of fear, exhausion, etc.

It is only about a 5 minute walk from the Lincoln memorial and the entire way Caitlynn was crying. I decided to take her out of the stroller even though it was still raining. She just wouldn't settle down. Our plan after the Korean War memorial was to go to the World War II memorial. About a 10 minute walk. I hated to spoil everyone's fun but we needed to call the evening short due to the rain and Caitlynn crying. We did drive by the World War II monument though.

When we finally got back to the vehicles we were totally soaked. Amazingly the babies did stay dry. What a crazy insane evening, but I am glad my mom got to walk along the Vietnam Wall.
