A Full Week

Note: I added Austin's picture to the Going!! Going!! Going!!! Blog. He is going to hate me, but it is a mother's job to embarrass their children, right?

Our day usually starts.....wait.... starting a day implies a day ended. My days never seem to end. I seem to be on the go 27 hours out of a day. Yes that is not a typo. I did say 27 hours. I think women have the innate ability to pack more hours in a day than is humanly possible. I seem to have that ability. Nothing I am proud of though. So as I was saying... Dalton, Caitlynn and I usually get up for the day around 10 or 11 after being up 3 or 4 times during the night. I try to make any appointments in the afternoon but this week 2 days in a row I had appointments early in the morning. And of course those would be the days Dalton and Caitlynn were up most of the night. So needless to say I have been dragging my butt this week. I am so thankful today is Friday. So here is a recap on the week.

Tuesday
Corrie had her audition for the All State Band. We arrived at the audition about an hour early. Everyone was practicing in one room and then about 10 minutes before your audition you are suppose to head down to the judges room. Corrie and I sat in the room where everyone was practicing. Every instrument was in this room but we could clearly pick out the flutes. (Corrie plays the flute). They were pretty good. I think just sitting there and listening to them play made Corrie pretty nervous so even though she still had 30-40 minutes she started to warm up. Her warm up wasn't going very well which made her even more nervous. The more nervous she got the more frustrated she got which made the warm up go even worse. Finally about 15-20 minutes before her time she decided to go down to the judges room. While we were standing outside the door we could hear the other flutist audition. They were extremely good. I really was in awe of these 7th and 8th graders and their ability. I was so nervous for Corrie I had to go pee. Now I don't know if it is morally, ethically, or even socially appropriate to pray to God while sitting on the toilet, but I am a mother and I tend to multi-task. So I prayed. I prayed for Corrie to have strength, courage and most of all peace. It was finally her time. I could hear her from outside the door. She performed must better than her warm up went. I was so excited and proud of her. She really gave it her best shot, but unfortunately just wasn't at the caliber of some of the other kids so she didn't make it. When she was done she was very calm and at ease. I thanked God for answering my prayers.

Wednesday
Corrie, Ashlie and Austin had to have physicals since they are new to the school district. Corrie and Austin had theirs last week. They were fine. The doctor was a little concerned about Austin's weight but I said he is just like his dad when he was a kid. Tall and Skinny. He has gained about 13 pounds over the last year though so I know he is fine. Corrie ended up having a slight case of scoliosis. She has to go in for an x-ray to diagnosis it for sure. Austin is 5 ft 3 1/2 inches and Corrie is 5 ft 3 inches. Austin is very excited to be taller than Corrie even though it is just 1/2 inch. On Wednesday of this week was Ashlie's appointment. The appointment went fine. We did want to talk to the doctor about her migraines just so this doctor here can now be aware of what is going on and write prescriptions for her. We also mentioned her hip pain she has had for the last couple of years that just doesn't seem to go away. It gets pretty painful when marching. She seems to think it is just some really tight muscles. She recommended physical therapy.

Thursday

Corrie got her braces off!!! Yeah!!! She was so excited to finally eat corn on the cob without having to cut it off the cob. She was mad though because her school pictures were just a couple of weeks ago. She would have liked to have had them taken without her braces. Oh well!!
Friday
Tonight we met Jeff's parents, grandma, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew for dinner. They all live about 2 hours away so we usually meet halfway. Dalton and Caitlynn decided to show off their West Virginia pride with their outfits. (Jeff is a WVU alumni and extremely happy to be back and able to watch their games on TV)

I developed pictures today from my 35mm camera. These pictures were on that film. To the best of my recollection Dalton and Caitlynn are 3 or 4 weeks in these pictures.

May God bless you this weekend with good eats, sunshine in your heart and plenty of laughter.
