Halloween

If you remember waaayyy back in July I did a post on our house here in Virginia. Well I couldn't show pictures of the basement because Corrie and Austin were working on some secret project. Well the secret project is this
=
Yes a casket. Corrie and Austin spent a lot of time doing dumpster diving in the neighborhood to find scraps of wood to make Halloween decorations. Austin had all these wonderful ideas to decorate the yard and how he was going to scare everyone on Halloween. I am sure he would have loved a yard with tons more decorations and scary creators, but it looked pretty cool anyway.

He put the coffin next to the drive way. The neighbor boy sat in a chair on the porch holding the candy. The kids would first get scared by Austin jumping out of the coffin. When they thought they were safe they would then get scared by the creature holding the candy. I guess they had a blast.
The pumpkin carving
Pumpkin carving this year just didn't work out too well. It is so hard to get everyone together these days. We didn't even get pumpkins until the day before Halloween. On Halloween Corrie and Ashlie ended up carving their pumpkins by themselves.

Austin, Jeff and the babies didn't even carve their pumpkin until the day AFTER Halloween.
This is Austin and the neighbor boy. I think Austin ended up carving 5 or 6 pumpkins this year. I sure hope he has pictures of them on his camera because somehow I missed taking pictures of them.

Jeff and his pumpkin carving skills. Again, I hope we have a picture of his finished project.
I thought the babies would love digging into the guts of the pumpkins, but they had no desire to be anywhere around them. I have a video but it isn't much of anything. And I haven't had much luck with loading videos on the blog. So instead of their pumpkins carving skills. Here is a picture of them in the Halloween outfit
Now, Aunt Bee, I am sure you are saying right now "That's not their costumes I saw". Well that has been a whole drama in itself. The weekend before Halloween we went to Maryland so I could do a pampered Chef show. We decided to hurry and get a costume for Dalton and Caitlynn so they can trick or treat Aunt Bee. All I could find were these dog outfits like the one Dalton is wearing. Dalton's didn't fit. So I hurried back into the store and exchanged it. The next size up didn't fit either. We made due by having Dalton wear the outfit you see here and Caitlynn the other one. Then the day before Halloween or maybe it was even Halloween, I ran the dog outfit back to the store here to see if I could get an even bigger size. No such luck. The only thing I could find was this Little Red Riding outfit. So we have a little red riding hood and the big bad Dog.

I am amazed how much Corrie and Ashley look alike in the pictures with their pumpkins. Maybe because they are both wearing dark shirts, but still. You can definitely tell they are sisters!
I know Mitzi and I got that all the time also when we were growing up--the look a like sister part.
I love cathching up on all your posts.
