We really are down to the wire on looking at colleges. Shepherd University which is only 40 minutes away has been one of Ashlie's top choices for a very long time. You will remember we visited that college back in August. Then when the college fair come up Fairmont State in West Virginia (3 hours away) became Ashlie's #1 choice. It all hinged around the fact she could start working with kids as early has her Freshman year. They have an onsite pre-school. Last week Ashlie and I made the 3 hour trek. Ashlie ended up very disappointed almost to the point of crying. She really wanted this whole college searching to be over. She wanted to walk away from Fairmont knowing this is where she wanted to go. Instead she walked away knowing this is NOT where she wants to go.
After our College visit we were starving. We found a diner in our GPS but it took forever to actually find it. The GPS said "You have arrived" when we were in the middle of no where. We eventually found it. At first site it looked like a hole in the wall. But the inside was very clean and the food was good.
This weeks visit put us at James Madison University in Virginia about an hour away. We got to the school an hour before our appointment. It then took us that hour to find the actual building our appointment was in. It is the biggest school we have visited. We finally met with the Department Head of the Early Education Program. You know the song "You had me from Hello". That was pretty much Ashlie's reaction. Their program is very impressive. It offers everything she wants plus some things she didn't know she wanted. She was ready to start classes right then and there. We didn't take an official tour but the hour we drove around trying to find the build ended up being our tour. It is a nice campus. I liked the area too. And the biggest bonus is it is only 1 hour away. Ashlie has the GPA and SAT scores to get in so now it is all in God's hands.
