Our Virginia Plantation

Ok so it isn't a plantation, but I can dream can't I? And I do live in Virginia so at least I am in the right part of the country to have this dream. Actually after looking at some of the houses around here maybe I want an old farm house with a wrap around porch. Or an old 1800 colonial style home or.... ok I will definitely settle for the house we found. Because for once in the past 15 months we are finally in a place where we are not right on top of each other. And... And.. the real bonus is we can finally have all of our possessions with us. We no longer have to have 3 storage units in 3 different states. (Although we still have stuff in Idaho we desperately are trying to figure out how to get).
Here are a few pictures of the house. The house is two stories plus an unfinished basement.
The basement alone is bigger than our apartment or townhouse. It is unfinished but the kids have taken that over as their space. They have collect pieces of flooring (carpet, linoleum, etc) to put down. They are starting to put up sheets as walls and to cover the installation. Behind these curtians is a cozy little living room. I am not allowed to see behind the curtians because they are working on a "special" project.
The two things I don't like about the house is no deck and the backyard has a pretty big slope to it. This is a picture of where the deck should be. I am thinking a weekend project somewhere in the horizon. :-) Can you just hear Jeff screaming when I say that??
My favorite thing about the house is having our belongings with us again. Isn't it funny how you can miss a china hutch so much. (Thank you, Tanya, for wrapping my china so wonderfully. It all made it in one piece. I did however happen to break the glass shelf when I first moved it into storage.)

The neighbors here are wonderful. One brought us a plate full of cookies on moving day. Another one we met just a couple days after moving in. They dog sit Rusty and we dog sit their dog. In fact Rusty is on a play date right now. Don't worry, Emma. Rusty likes playing with you tons better. One night last week I was a sub for the neighborhood gathering of ladies (Which was really disguised as Bunco). The one thing I have to get used to is the neighbors just kinda drop by all of the time. Which is great, but sometime you just want to sit around in your underwear. Oh wait, never mind, sitting around in my underwear must be another dream of mine.

So Tracie, now that you are living closer to WV, are you taking a hankering to sit around in your "gutchies"?? Too funny!

That's a visual that I'll have with me for the rest of the day!

I'm glad you're happy there, but we Marylander's really miss you guys -- especially us two Marylander's.

Love ya!
