Our BIG Day

May 23-

For a couple of weeks prior to May 23, the kids kept telling us we needed to keep this date open. We couldn't do anything. As the day approached they kept getting more and more excited. Jeff and I became more and more worried. :-) The evening before all we were told was we could not come downstairs until after 9am. We couldn't be ready for the day or anything. If the babies woke up they would get them.

That next morning we came downstairs after 9am to this. The kids stayed up and made these shirts.

We were then handed a note. The note said to enjoy our doughnuts and to be dressed and ready by 11:30.

At 11:30 our friend came over to watch the babies for the day. Jeff and I were then blind folded and forced into the car. (Just kidding about being forced into the car).

Ashlie tried to drive us around to get us lost, but even being blind folded we knew exactly where we were. It was pretty funny. We ended up at a park. The kids gave us $10 and told us to call them no later than 2:00. We wondered around a little bit and then decided to use the $10 to go on the paddle boats. The kids left us with no sunscreen so I had to borrow some from the lifeguard (We later found out they did think about sunscreen but left it in the car).
Oh ya, they did leave us with the camera so the lifeguard took this picture

After exploring the little pond on the paddle boat for awhile we decided we were really really thirsty, but there was no place to get something to drink. We thought about leaving the park and going down the gas station, but instead just decided to call the kids early. They then directed us to another part of the park where we found this waiting for us.

Our very own picnic and our crochet set. We saw the kids briefly as they told us to call them at 3:30. Jeff and I had a wonderful picnic together and played crochet.

At 3:30 the kids arrived with our next instructions. It actually was to go bowling. The original plan was for Jeff and I to go alone, but the kids decided to come with us. I kicked butt, Thank you very much.

After bowling we went home and were instructed to dress nice and be ready by 6:30. At 6:30 we all piled in the car again (this time the babies are with us). We weren't blind folded this time but we had to keep our eyes closed. We drove around for awhile and then ended up at the church. The kids arranged for a candlelight dinner in the sanctuary of the church. Our waiter and Chef was the youth pastor.
Our dinner and day was absolutely wonderful. We have the best kids in the world!!!!

But here is the very funny part of the day. While Jeff and I were at the park the kids were spying on us taking pictures. They even had the walkie talkies and ear pieces and were jumping from tree to tree hiding. I guess the park ranger even approached them asking what they were doing. He got a good laugh. Even the life guard that I borrowed the sunscreen and took our picture was in on it by the time we got off the paddle boats. Jeff and I had no idea. You would have thought we would have seen 3 kids in white shirts running around, but we didn't. Here are some pictures they took of us. You can see how close they were to us. The really really funny thing would have been if Jeff and I really would have left the park to go get a drink. I can only imagine the kid's reaction.

Thanks for a wonderful day kids!!! (I guess they are already thinking of our anniversary. Yikes!!!)
