Jeff's Birthday

May 12- Jeff's Birthday

I wanted to do something special for Jeff's birthday this year. First of all I wanted to do up some kind of display of his firefighting career. This was no easy feat as I first had to find all his memorabilla. With as many moves has he has had over his lifetime-- from one end of the country to the other and back again-- It took me awhile to gather his stuff. When I finally did I had to make sense of it. I am sure he could tell me where every badge, patch, and pin came from but I wanted this to be a surprise. After it was all put together and he saw it, he said I did a pretty good job putting things in the right place.

Ok now is where I talk about the technical difficulties. You know there had to be some. Within the last 2 months all 3 of our digital cameras has stopped working. We had to resort back to our 35mm. Well it stopped working. I thought I was being an idiot and the problem was just it didn't have film. Well I really was an idiot and I exposed the film. I think on that roll was pictures of Jeff's birthday. No problem I could retake them.... but that would require getting the film developed and it would take me another 2 months to post this blog. So for now this will have to do.

The next thing I wanted to do for Jeff was get our BBQ operational. Now I know most of you are thinking no big deal. WRONG!!! Our grill is duel fuel. Meaning it can be propane or natural gas. In Idaho we had it as Natural Gas. Well here in Virginia we need it to be propane. The problem....Our conversion kit is still in storage in Idaho. Therefore, we haven't had a BBQ for the last 2 years. I call the manufacturer to see if I can buy the conversion kit. I can not. They tell me what part I need. I write it down and kindly hang up the phone. I then call a friend from church and tell him the story because I have no idea what the manufacturer just said. He knows exactly what I am talking about so he calls the manufacturer for me. Bottom line.. They don't sell the part and I can't buy it anywhere. I must get it from my storage in Idaho. Oh and did I tell you the part I need is the size of a watch battery. LOVELY!!! Now I need to somehow get intouch with my brother, see if he can find the part, and express mail it to me. Of course nothing is easy has my brother doesn't have a phone so it was a matter of luck he received my facebook message and e-mail that very day. My adventure got even better when he also knew exactly what part I was talking about. I told him it had to be in Jeff's toolbox. Which, LUCKILY, my brother did not pack when he moved stuff to storage for me. And the toolbox was easily accessible. He found the part right away and Jeff received it the day of his birthday.

Within 20 minutes we had chicken on the grill. Yeah!!!!!

P.S. I don't think this picture was taken on Jeff's birthday. But that week we had something BBQ-ing all week long. Happy Birthday, Jeff. YEAH!!! YEAH!!! YEAH!!!
