A day in DC

My friend from Georgia was here for the week of Caitlynn and Dalton's birthday. It was wonderful. She likes to cook but only has a son left at home. I don't like to cook and have many children at home. Soooo... she cooked for us the entire week. It was fabulous. I actually learned a lot about cooking. She doesn't use anything from a can or box. I know I don't understand that either. So she taught be alot about cooking fresh and also what do with left overs. Great Week! We even made peach jam together.

One of the days we went to DC to see one of the Smithsonians. For the average person is takes a day to just go through ONE Smithsonian. So that's why we just planned for one. BUT... obviously my friends son is not average. (I say that in a loving way). He zipped through the Air and Space Museum and then went even faster through the American History Museum. I am sure we had record times.

But before we did all of that we had to ride the subway because I refuse to drive by myself in DC. This was Caitlynn and Dalton's first subway ride. They did great. Caitlynn looks a little concerned here but she really did enjoy it.

Hmmmm? Dalton looks a little concerned here too.

We had packed a lunch and discovered once we got to the Air and Space Museum that we couldn't take food in. So we sat outside and ate our lunch. It actually was very very humid that day and not fun to be outside. And where we ate the pigeons also loved so Dalton and Caitlynn had more fun chasing the birds away than sitting down and eating. But finally we went into the museum.

Dalton was with my friend and Corrie and my friends son went off by themselves. So Caitlynn and I hung out together. Caitlynn really didn't look at much or talk about anything until we got to this one display. And then she talked and talked and talked. This is her pointing out the display to me and telling me all about it. She went on for so long I had Corrie come and take a picture of her.

So the display she was interested in you ask...... This one of little planes. Each one of the planes had a story to be told. Even after this display she didn't look at much or talk about much.

After the Air and Space Museum and our quick run through of the American History Museum we grabbed a hot dog from a vendor. I loved this picture of Dalton. We were sitting on a fence along the street eating our hot dogs. I kept trying to get him to look at me so I could take his picture. He was too busy looking at all the cards but did give me a small and a sort of a pose.
Dalton and Caitlynn did great at the museums. They were pretty tuckered out though. They fell asleep as soon as we got on the subway. Fun day!!
