In our church the youth go on a weekend getaway to Ocean City, Maryland. The weekend is full of music, prayer, reflection and being with God. Corrie and Austin went (see blog). The weekend of ??? Ashlie went.
Before SHE tells you about the weekend I need to give you a little history. The church we go to is pretty big. It has about 60 youth. The unfortunate thing is all the kids go to different schools. So they really don't know each other. Corrie, Ashlie and Austin really don't have any friends at the church. For New Years the High Schoolers had a party along with other churches. Ashlie was extremely nervous but decided to attend so she could try to make friends. The "friends" ended up ditching her and she called about an hour later crying wanting us to come get her. Since then these "friends" have been talking to her a bit more. This trip was another attempt to get to know these "friends". One of the really sad notes around this trip is our Youth Pastor. He was amazing. He has preached in church a couple of times and we just love him. He has been over to our house a couple of times. The kids just love him. Well, something happened and all of a sudden he was asked to resign. Him and his wife will move back to Texas. All of this just happened days before this trip. So needless to say Ashlie had several emotions going on even before this trip took place..... But GOD WILL PREVAIL!!!
