Well last Friday night was his opening night. We didn't go, but Austin said it went well. We were very excited for Saturday night to come so we could see the play. All of us went. Yes even the babies. (The only person I trust to babysit two babies was suppose to come with us so we didn't have any babysitters for the evening).
We get there very early so we can grab a seat in the back incase we had to get up with the babies. We figured with bottles and toys the babies would be happy. Well they were. VERY HAPPY. Caitlynn was talking and blowing bubbles. She was making so much noise I had to stand up in the back so no one could hear her. The play is progessing well. Corrie was holding Dalton. Jeff is video taping and I am standing in the back with Caitlynn. We are about 30 minutes into the 60 minute play. On stage they start talking about 2 donkeys. I start getting very excited because I know Austin's big part is coming up. I see him on stage. His back is to us. I could tell he was nervous just by his body language. Then he turns around and does this little dance. Everyone laughs. I cried. I was extremely proud of him. He is on stage for a couple more minutes and then I look over at Jeff. Ashlie and him are looking for something. OH NO!!! The video tape!!! Our video camera is a DVD video camera. I like it because it is small and writes directly to a DVD. The problem is the DVD's are only 30 minutes. We are right in the middle of Austin's performance and the DVD has run out. I am the only one who knows where a new one is. I go running over to them, throw Caitlynn on a chair and hurry and switch the DVD. Jeff gets it going again and we look up only to find out we have missed most of the fight. This fight Austin has talked about almost every day of this play. He was so nervous about it and we miss the first part of it!! We are all mad and shake our heads in disbelief of what just happened. I go back to the back of the room and then I hear it. My cell phone!!! I hardly ever get calls on my cell phone. In fact half the time I don't even have it with me. And now it goes off in the middle of the play!!! The rest of they play was uneventful. Austin did his 3 other parts wonderfully. I was able to hold back the tears but I couldn't have been more proud.
I figured out how to edit the video's we have taken. So just a forewarning I will try to add more video's to my blog. To view the video's click on the arrow. You might have to click on it a couple of times. There are two... well because of the little DVD mishap during the performance.
