Dalton and Caitlynn's Dedication

On Sunday we dedicated Dalton and Caitlynn in our church. A dedication is a public commitment to raise children under the Lordship of Christ and to use the utmost wisdom and discretion in encouraging the children to live for Jesus. It is an act in which the parents give their child back to God.

The church family, in witnessing this ceremony, pledges it's accountability to the children as members of God's family. It is a reminder to us that all of the children of the church belong to God and that their care and education are our mutual responsibility.

To honor the event Jeff's parents came down Saturday afternoon. I really didn't know what to expect from the event. I knew what the dedication was about and it was something both Jeff and I wanted to do, but what I didn't expect was what it truly meant to me on the inside.

Ashlie, Corrie, Austin, Caitlynn, Dalton, Jeff's parents, Jeff and I went up on stage. Then to our surprise our Pastor invited our small group to come up on stage with us. This really meant so much to Jeff and me. The people in our small group really have become our salvation. They are our dear friends, our family, our supports, our comforters, and some days our only strength. To have them on stage with us supporting us in our endeavor of raising our children meant everything. And then to have our children and Jeff's parents standing there beside us was very special to say the least.

Unfortunately having our small group on stage was quite the surprise and I had given our camera to one of the people in the small group. Needless to say we didn't get very good pictures of us during the dedication, but we did get these two pictures of our Pastor presenting both Dalton and Caitlynn to the congregation

After the dedication
After church we had a get-together with our small group. We had a wonderful dinner and fellowship for the afternoon. I have no idea why I didn't take pictures. We did manage to take a picture of the cake.
May God Bless you, Caitlynn and Dalton. I know we surely have been blessed by you!!!
