Lay Your Burdens at my feet

I wrote this several years ago. For some reason every day for the last couple of months it has been coming to my mind. I finally dug through some boxes about a month ago and found it. I read it and set it aside thinking God had told me what he wanted to. But obviously I haven't learned. For some reason I feel compelled to share this on my blog. So again I dug through boxes and found it. Here it is for those of us who need to hear it.
Lay Your Burdens at My Feet

Myself: "God, I have had it!!! 'Lay your burdens at my feet'. Hog Wash. I have been laying my burdens down only to discover the next day I am still carrying them. Why can't you rid me of these burdens? Why must you make me carry them around? Each day I get weaker and weaker from the load."

God: "My child, each day I see you coming my heart fills with joy. I wait patiently while you unload your burdens. Then as your tired weak body feabily walks away my heart aches. For you see, my child, I pray each day that when you leave your burdens at my feet that you will not only leave todays burdens, but yesterdays and tomorrows burdens. For it is those burdens that make todays overwhelming."

Myself: "Dear God, I have opened up yesterday's and tomorrows burdens. Although I have not fully examined the baggage I do know this. Even though I want to rid myself of these I am finding the process very painful. These burdens have been the layers of my skin for so long. They are so intertwined with the way I think, the way I feel, and the way I act. When I remove a layer I find myself having to relearn how to think, feel and act without that burden. Lord, that has not been an easy task."

God: "My Child, Trust in yourself....Believe in yourself....Believe that each time a layer is peeled off a ray of sunshine pierces a part of your soul. The soul that holds all joy, all happiness, all love and once fully exposed the possibilities are endless."
