Dalton Night #1

Dalton's first night of "You are going to sleep through the Night" Camp went pretty well. The biggest problem is he has never had a bottle outside of going to sleep. So he associates the bottle with bed/nap time. When I try to give it to him during the day he refuses. Therefore he wakes up in the night hungry. Never Fear!! The Sleepeasy Solution has a remedy for that. Wean them off eating at night and also replace the bottle association with something else. Sounds Difficult. Actually Dalton did very well with it. He usually wakes up at 1 and 4 so I had to wake him up one hour earlier than he would wake up and feed him. This ensures he isn't waking up himself hungry. Now if he does wake up in the middle of the night he needs to put himself back to sleep. The first night you give him 1 ounce less then he normally takes. The next night 2 ounces and so on until he is completely weaned. Then during the day you need to increase the amounts. Well problem #1. I am such a bad mom that I just gave them a bottle in bed in the middle of the night. I never got them up. Well with this I have to get them up to ensure they aren't back in their old habit of falling asleep with the bottle. Needless to say I am a little sleepy, but he did well. He wasn't happy when I stopped feeding him though. Today then he did great taking the bottle. I think it was because he was hungry. To replace the bottle association he now goes to bed with his blanky. He always has but now it is his only sleep aid. All night last night and during his naps today he went to bed without a bottle and if he did fuss it was only for 10-15 minutes. He even took a 3 hour nap today. Something I never even dreamed of. Problem #2 When he does go to sleep he rolls over on his stomach. Which means I have to gently roll him over on his back without him waking up. I am so excited this is working so well. I am not going to jinx this though cuz I have one more to go through before I declare VICTORY!!!!.... stay tuned.
