Dalton's bout of sickness

On January 29 I took Caitlynn and Dalton in for their well baby check up. A couple of days previous they had developed just a little bit of a cold. Well to my complete surprise Caitlynn had an ear infection. Dalton actually continued to get worse over the next week or two. On Feb 13 Jeff and I had a much needed Valentines dinner date together. Dalton woke up from his nap with so much gunk in his eye he couldn't even open his eye. The good mother I am I told Austin how to clean it out and Jeff and I went out. Well the next day Jeff took Dalton to the doctor only to find out he had pink eye. We had so much fun over the next day or two washing every toy and everything else Dalton could have possibly touched. 5 Days later we were back in the doctor's office for their shots that I was behind on. All during this 3 week span Dalton wasn't eating very well. I am usually never one to panic about my kids eating. I believe they go through phases. The day after his shots Dalton started getting a little bit of a fever, but was happy and playing. The next day he continued with a little bit of a fever then that night it just sky rocketted. We were putting cold rags on him and had given him tylenol. When we thought his fever had come down quite a bit we took his temp. 103. Yikes!! It had to have been quite a bit higher than that. That night we ended up in the ER. When the hospital took his temp it was 105. We were immediately rushed back so we could get his fever down. We then spent the next 8 hours in the ER. Oh that was soooo much fun!!!! NOT!!!

The diagnosis ended up being tonsilitis. They gave him double doses of anitbiotics and we finally got to go home at 6am. I felt so bad for him. He never sits on your lap or even cuddles but he felt so bad that is all he wanted to do. He finally got better only to break out into this horrible rash. Back to the doctor. This time it was an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Oh my!! Really seriously... I will settle for just a simple ear infection.

Well his rash is finally gone, no fever, no pink eye, no tonsilitis.... just pure onrinous... and one hungry boy. He is definitely making up for not eating over the last month. I can't keep the boy fed. But I will take this problem over any other problem.

You're a great mama! But I've had a taste of that mother-guilt myself lately! It's so hard to tell when they need actual medical attention!!!! :) Love hearing about the babies and happy belated birthday!!!
