Awards! Awards! and more Awards!

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of softball/baseball and end of school activities and trying to find a house in Winchester where we are moving this weekend. I last left you with the cliffhanger of the playoffs for baseball and softball. Austin's team didn't fair too well in the playoffs even though they were ranked very high. They lost their first two games and were out. We didn't have too high of hopes for Corrie's team. The last few games they weren't playing too well. They score the playoffs a little different for softball. The first 3 games of the playoffs for every team actually gets points. 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. After three games the top 4 teams with the highest points go into the semi finals. The winners then go into the Championship game. After 2 games Corrie's team only had 1 point. One of the lowest teams. Their 3rd game Corrie wasn't able to make it since she was in Hershey Park with her band. Miracously they ended up winning and due to a streak of luck they ended up going to the semi-finals. They played against a team that could easily beat us, but by another good luck fortune we ended up winning. Which put us in the Championship game at 4:00 on Sunday with temperatures easily in the 90's. The girls were amazing!!! Everyone was hitting better than they did all year. Their fielding was great. Everything just seemed to come together. They ended up winning the Championship game 29-5.

Immediately after the game Corrie was in the All star game. 9 players on her team had just played in the championship game so needless to say they were pretty exhausted and lost. They put a good fight though.

Her team had the awards and end of season party this past Saturday. I actually ended up getting an award for keeping score all season. They copied the scorebook from the championship game and framed it for me. I loved it!!!!

In among all of this excitement were end of school activities. Corrie and Austin won the Presidential award. Austin was very excited he got a letter from the President with his signature. Austin asked me if the value of the paper increased since it has the Presidents signature. I told him no it probably isn't worth anything now. (Sorry Bush supporters). Austin also won the All Star award for Reading and Corrie won it for Science. Ashlie won an award for being in the top 5% of her class. ( I didn't get any pictures of Ashlie since I was attending Corrie and Austin's awards)

I know have 2 big 9th graders and 1 big Senior. Yikes!!!
